Green Lantern The Animated Series

Red Lanterns Volume 1: Blood and Rage

December 9, 2013 // 0 Comments

A few days ago, I purchased Red Lanterns Volume 1: Blood And Rage TRIGGER WARNING: VIOLENCE & BLOODSHED AHEAD and as always, SPOILER ALERTS I must give credit where credit is due. Optimist Chad first introduced me to the rebooted version of the Green Lantern lore, and I haven’t really looked by since. I like the idea that the stories cover the color spectrum, with each color representing an emotion.  My favorite is Red.  In Green Lantern The Animated Series, Atrocitus and the Red Lantern Armada are the Season 1 “Big Bad.”  One of the major players from the comics, Bleez, was unfortunately missing. Probably because her story is not that safe for children, or rather, it’s something parents should be talking to their kids […]

The New #DCNation: #BewareTheBatman, Mister Terrific, and Wonder Woman

July 13, 2013 // 0 Comments

Image of Batman and Alfred staring at Michael Holt on their computer from Tumblr. I was going to completely avoid Beware The Batman, the new CGI animated series on Cartoon Network. Green Lantern and Young Justice were unjustly cancelled, and dagnabbit, I’m still bitter. Then, late this week I read about a new series of animated shorts with Wonder Woman that were to air during BTB, and I thought, okay okay, I shall watch! And watch it I did. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. Beware the Batman was okay, it wasn’t gonna  blow me away Batman The Animated Series/Green Lantern The Animated Series magical with their pilots, but it wasn’t Marvel’s The Avengers Assemble bad. #sorrynotsorry. This Week On #DCNation: The Politics Of Courage #GLTAS #YoungJustice

January 19, 2013 // 1 Comment

This week in DC Nation was a pleasant surprise. Both Young Justice’s and GTLAS’s stories were both coherent! I continue to be disinterested in Batman: Shanghai Nights and the Princess Amethys DC Shorts. Just not into them. GLTAS’s “Prisoner Of Sinestro” starts out with crew rescuing Green Lantern Thal Sinestro and his prisoner Neuraxis from the infamous arachnid prison. Little does everyone know that Neuraxis, who looks like a harmless oversized cranium with tentacles, is a mind-jumper, an alien species who can control people’s minds at will. Sinestro “saves” the day, although his decision making is guided by the fear of what will happen in the future. The basic premise of Young Justice: Invasion “True Colors”, like all other alien invasion narratives, is the Fear […]

This Week In #DCNation: A Nod To Black #DCComics Fans #GLTAS #YoungJustice

January 12, 2013 // 0 Comments

I have in recent years come back to being a fan of comic book culture.  Rather than fawning over and reading Marvel Comics like Spider-man and X-Men, my love of Batman and the Batfamily has grown.  But it was always there, from the moment my parents rented Batman (1989) for us on VHS.  I was a goner. I’ve also come to enjoy, thanks to friends like Josh T., Seth C. , and Optimistic Chad, the Green Lantern, Earth 2, and Fables. The DC Animated Universe is where everything is at though. It is far superior to its rivals. Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice were strong again this week, and both, interesting enough had to deal what it meant to be a person. […]

On the return of #DCNation #GLTAS And #YoungJustice

January 6, 2013 // 4 Comments

This was such a disappointing Saturday morning. I was soooo upset to see more reruns of the Riders Of Berk not playing on Cartoon Network. Instead, we got (sorta-ish) all new episodes of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Unfortunately, I had to work the same hours the new episodes debuted, and I didn’t DVR it (lack of room), but I managed to catch the fourth replace on Toon Network West, and I was not disappointed. In the GL:TAS episode “Steam Lantern,” Hal crashed from a portal to a planet that is oppressed by a scientist who claimed to have saved them from the Anti-Monitor. Hal Jordan meets this guy who calls himself the “Steam Lantern,” who was inspired by a GL who […]

Razer The Red Nosed Lantern: A #GLTAS Christmas Carol By @giancarlo_volpe #DCNation

December 9, 2012 // 2 Comments

It’s been a long time since we’ve had parodies of songs on Political Jesus, so I thought I would share two versions of Razer The Red Nosed Lantern, the first from animator and producer Giancarlo Volpe. [he gave me permission to share via twitter] The second version is my own Bitter DC Nation fan version. Razer the Red Nosed Lantern (by Giancarlo Volpe): “Razer the Red Nosed Lantern had a very angry nose And if you ever saw it, you would say he has great rage in his heart All of the other Red Lanterns Used to laugh and call him names, They even told Atrocitus, To murder his Ilana dame Then one foggy Christmas Eve Hal Jordan showed him trust. “Razer with your nose […]
