“If Thomas Edison invented electric light today, Dan Rather would report it on CBS News as “candle making industry threatened”
“You can’t trust anybody with power.”
““It is impossible to maintain civilization with 12-year-olds having babies, with 15-year-olds killing each other, with 17-year-olds dying of AIDS and with 18-year-olds getting diplomas they can’t read”
“If the Soviet empire still existed, I’d be terrified. The fact is, we can afford a fairly ignorant presidency now.”
As a newly anointed king of all federalists, I cannot think of any nightmarish era than the 1990s, with Clinton’s triangulation and the “Radical” Republicans. I must admit, as a middle-schooler, it was quite entertaining watching the two parties go back and forth. Sadly, this news is not from the Onion News Network. Newt Gingrich is running for president in the 2012 primaries. I could care less about his private life, just about as much as I care about Obama’s birth certificate. The issues and policy preferences SHOULD be the focal points of political dialogue. I find Newt’s campaign funny because he is running as a small-government conservative (in what universe, seriously?) This has also been one of the worst kept secrets that it boggles my mind why Newt was ever hired at Fox News in the first place.
It is not time for an ignorant presidency, but there is always time for ignorant presidential candidates.
